Cincinnati Maker Faire

This past summer, my brother-in-law and I went to the annual Cincinnati Maker Faire. This is the 2nd one to date that has been held here in Cincinnati and although it was considerably smaller than last year’s event, it was still pretty cool. There were a lot of great companies and organizations there. I was really thrown back at how many 3D printers and print companies were there giving demos. 3D printing technology is definitely something that is making a break right now. I’m super excited to watch the advancements here in the course of the next few years.

My favorite part of the whole show, though, was the Oculus Rift demo station. There was a wait of about 40-50 minutes to get a turn with the headset, but it was well worth the wait. Although I’m not a hardcore gamer, I do enjoy learning about the technology and ideation that goes into creating stereoscopic displays and applications, so it was cool to be able to talk with the rep that was there. I would love to get one of these for myself!
